The Journey to the Sun drawing was inspired by the heavy metal song with the same name. In the 80s, Heavy Metal magazine was popular and Edwards had every edition. He loved the artwork and print quality and described it as a high-scale artistic comic. He still has the magazines today and he says he will never sell them.
He wanted to give the Journey to the Sun drawing a haunting look and use weird, bright colors. He was hoping for a strange effect with the clouds and the colors. Many of Edwards’ drawings were inspired by music he was listening to at the time.
