In the Earthly Worlds painting the woman represents the planet, Mother Earth, and what we have that we can lose. She’s pregnant with a small embryo illustrated with white coloring. The painting represents the future. The woman is also clutching the cloth, which represents the pain of what’s coming. The apple she’s holding is symbolic of the story of Adam and Eve. All sins started when Adam ate the apple.
